I have been boxing on and off since 2001. People often ask me if
I'm afraid of getting hurt...well, it's been six years and I'm still
hitting the canvas! No major injuries to date.
The truth is that it is
a relatively safe sport. Let's compare it say...skiing! When you think about
it, how brilliant does it really sound to slap on 3ft long pieces of fiberglass to your feet,
and propel yourself down an icy hill with trees at 30+mph, often without any protective
gear? Somehow, that sounds a lot more dangerous to me than going one-on-one with
another human being who can stop fighting at any time they desire. Not to mention we wear more
padding!
Anyhoo..my official amateaur record is 2 wins, 3 losses. I haven't fought in over 2 years, but I'm
now training for a fight on June 24th, 2006. I am training five days a week at the 3rd St boxing
gym in San Francisco. It's a great gym run by these two wirey Irish fellows. You can check out
their website here:www.thirdstgym.com
If you are interested in seeing me fight on the 24th, give me a holar at 415-847-6026. It will be in Marin and
is to benifit the Manzanita Community Center. Tickets are $20.
